Engineering Design Services at iGATE span across the entire product lifecycle. iGATE leverages the vast industry experience of its engineers to provide design services and solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. We work with our customers to improve upon aspects like manufacturability, performance, cost take-out, serviceability, etc. Our customers rely on us for robust, high-performance designs that are backed by high-end engineering analysis reports.

We provide the flexibility to engage at any stage of the product lifecycle. Our engineers are proficient at providing conceptual designs as well as conducting detailed study of established products that may require re-engineering to beat competition. From creation of sketches to 2D drawing and 3D models, we extend our services to providing manufacturing support.

Industrial Design

Mechanical Design
iGATE Engineers provide multi-platform expertise to:

  • Generate 3D models and create 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Develop detailed design, factoring inter component dependencies, manufacturing and assembly constraints, material selection, etc.
  • Conduct engineering analysis of the design and iterate on the high-level design till functional requirements are met.

Tooling Design
Considering the volumes and manufacturing intricacies, and in order to enhance / simplify / standardize the manufacturing process, iGATE also provides tooling design services. iGATE Engineers having in-depth manufacturing experience, create detailed designs for toolings that can be easily developed by the manufacturer and deployed for manufacturing. As such, manufacturability of the tool and tool life are some of the major factors that we consider at the design stage.

Prototyping
Designs created by iGATE are substantiated not only by high-end engineering analysis such as FEA and CFD but also by development of prototypes. iGATE converts thoughts and inventions into reality by building prototypes; Prototypes that provide the visibility into the real world three dimensional products. iGATE design engineers develop mechanical, electronic, or electromechanical pre-production prototypes. Prior to the development of prototypes, we create high-end simulation models to study the mechanism and motion analysis. This helps in developing accurate prototypes at the very first instance, thus reducing wastages and iteration time at the prototyping stage. iGATE’s prototyping proficiency enables customers to get a better understanding about the products’ aesthetics, ergonomics, functionality, cost material benefits, etc. Customers can conduct most of their pre-compliance testing on these prototypes, rather than waiting for the actual product to be rolled out. Our expertise in prototyping has enabled customers to get better performing products, reduce manufacturing costs and time.

For complex products, prototypes are created for individual sub-systems/assemblies and are put through sequential reviews so that the development of the prototype and review happens progressively. iGATE has developed prototypes for complex mechatronic products that involved development of mechanical and electronic components driven by software program and logic. We have created prototypes for products having multiple mechanisms which are triggered either by manual input or by electronic signals / sensors. iGATE has a strong network of alliances, with technology vendors and manufacturers, on a national as well as international level to develop prototypes.
